I’ve been passionate about the beauty industry for as long as I can remember. I love this business and work hard to keep my skills sharp. Over the years I have engaged in professional development both on my own and with my team, and have traveled extensively to pursue ongoing education. I am not afraid of a challenge, and when guests come in looking for something I have not done before, I put in the time and effort to find the right look and make it happen for them. I have done hair for weddings, graduations, anniversaries and even for Halloween costumes. What can guests expect when they visit you at the salon? Guests can expect a welcoming experience where their beauty goals are listened to and met, while sharing a laugh or two. I think building trust through positive relationships is the most important part of my day. A person’s hair is an expression of who they are, and putting their trust in my skill is something I never take for granted. Men’s cuts, balayage, foilyage, colours, updos, perms; unusual requests are welcome! What’s your favorite beauty trend of all time? This is a hard question because my favorite trend is always changing. Right now, I love texture waves, foilyage. Such beautiful trends. But if pressed for an all-time favorite trend, I would say a classic bob. Timeless. Perfect. What’s one thing you cannot live without? Travel. And fitness. Okay that’s two things. When not at work, where can people expect to find you? I love to be active, so you’ll rarely see me sitting around (except maybe for a nice dinner). I have a diverse group of good friends and love to combine travel, education and discovery of new places with people I care about. Typically, you can find me engaged in any one of a number of fitness activities, working on a project or hosting supper at my home for friends, family or Shear Ex staff. **Terry is not taking new clients at the moment, as she had a stroke a few months ago. I graduated from hair school in the spring of 1986, and was fortunate enough to work in one of Saskatoon’s top salons. Working with excellent stylists started my career off on the right foot, and I have continued to benefit from the inspiration and creativity of my coworkers. I have also been an educator for two professional hair companies teaching hairdressers cutting techniques and providing information on quality products. I really enjoy continuing education, and take classes regularly from national and international designers and hair cutters. This helps keep my skills fresh and keeps me in tune with the current trends. Hair artistry is a really enjoyable art form, and the medium of hair allows me to create beautiful looks for my clients while having fun myself. I have naturally curly hair and seem to attract clients with naturally curly hair. I understand what having curly hair is like, and I am skilled at both cutting and styling curls. Every pic I have ever seen of Carrie Ann Moss (Matrix - Trinity) shows a very versatile haircut. I have never seen a bad photo of her cut! For the right hair, this cut is beautiful with little work required to maintain it. The cut is a naturall falling, short shag. Full or flat, natural drying or altering the look by adding heat, it always looks amazing. Check it out ! What is the one thing you cannot live without? YouTube Premium When not at work, where can people expect to find you? I enjoy going out to restaurants, clubs and shows with friends. Saskatoon has a full, vibrant nightlife. Trends recycle, but come back with a modernized edge. I love everything from the 70’s, especially hair and fashion! The 70’s were timeless, from Sassoon’s perfectly crafted pixies and technically precise bobs, to Farrah Fawcett’s free flowing long layers (making a comeback for 2021). I love the soft, balayage and ombre highlights that work well to accentuate these cuts. I have particularly adopted Sassoon’s timeless wet/dry cutting techniques, which I love for their excellent finishing touches. What’s one thing you cannot live without? One thing only?! I live and breathe fashion and design, not only in my professional life, but in my personal life as well. I love staying “in the know” about clothing fashion trends and home decor. My home is my canvas and happy place for my friends and me and of course, my dogs! I am presently sharing my life with my two pugs, Stella and Skippy, who bring smiles to my face every single day. I have been actively involved in pug rescue and have given a home to many a rescue over the years. I have loved them all. When not at work, where can people expect to find you?
